Vince Chris has learned to take advantage of life’s opportunities, and it’s led him all over the world.

Chris has been working at Larson Newspapers for 15 years and is planning to retire soon. Originally from Santa Monica, Calif., Chris came upon the job with a briefer timeline in mind.

“It started off it was going to be a temporary thing. Suddenly it’s 15 years later,” he said.

Chris had previously owned a plaster crafts business in St. Louis. The business mainly focused on the retail side of things, but also had a warehouse. It sold everything from cast lamps to figurines. Chris didn’t start the business, but said it was still in its infancy when he took it over. Chris has also served as the president of the National Plaster Craft Association.

He had intended to move the business with him when he came to Sedona.

“I couldn’t find any place that was a good fit. So I saw the ad in the paper and I came in and interviewed for the job,” he said.
