Sedona Red Rock High School’s first quarter against Joy Christian High School could have been a happy ending to a successful season.

Unfortunately for the Scorpions, Halloween doesn’t work that way.

Instead, the Eagles scored 22 unanswered points by halftime to quickly overwhelm a 17-player SRRHS squad and even more quickly reverse the Scorpions’ early 7-6 lead, ending the SRRHS season Friday, Oct. 31, 48-13.

“I think we competed for two-and-a-half quarters,” said Ken Selle, Scorpions head football coach. “The most important thing is, I never saw any quit out of these guys.

“They should be proud of the fact that against a team more dominant, from a talent standpoint, than anybody else we’ve seen this year, they hung in until the end.”
