Trends held for Sedona Red Rock High School’s basketball teams in their regular-season finale Friday, Feb. 6, at Mingus Union High School.

For head coach C.J. Sells’ boys, their 10-point loss to the Marauders was a mixed blessing to end a 10-15 season — Sells’ first sub-.500 record in his seven years with SRRHS hoops.

For Joe Donaldson, the end of his girls’ five-point road win was even better than their home opener Dec. 2, when the Scorpions [16-8] scored the exact same point total against the Marauders, but lost.

But while Sells heads into summer basketball camps looking to replace more than half his varsity roster due to graduation, Donaldson’s two seniors are just starting to soar as they seek to secure their No. 21 seed in the Division III state tournament at sectionals in Phoenix.
